Thank you for being here. My name is Paul Joshua. I am a woodturner and artist based in Munich, Germany. I create contemporary and functional objects using a lathe. Each object is turned by hand from a single piece of solid wood. All my projects are the result of an extensive design process which aims at creating a harmony between art and functionality. I only use traditional woodturning tools and techniques and have the highest standards regarding the shape and finish of my pieces. Here you can find out more about my current projects.

chess
Contemporary art meets maximum functionality. The design process and its realisation ended up taking over two years. The most significant characteristic of these pieces is that they match the standard recommendations of international chess associations (FIDE, USCF) in size and proportions.
pepper mills
Turning spice mills is a particularly technical process. Numerous stepped holes have to be drilled precisely into the wooden blank so that the grinder runs perfectly smoothly later on. Consisting of the base and the mill head, both parts are turned from a single piece of solid wood in order to maintain a grain pattern that is as continuous as possible.
bowls
With great attention to detail, these bowls and plates are turned from one piece of solid wood. Simple shapes are provided with thoughtful details to maintain the functionality of the objects.
